Having owned an S1 Elise for a few years I felt it was a great car but needed some more power and speed. I researched the usual options and ended up talking to Gareth at Elise Racing. Having agreed to a Honda conversion the car was duly despatched and I have to say I was delighted with the result. I'm no engineer but talking to Gareth made the job a lot easier as unlike most he didn't talk down to me about the technical aspects of the result but actually enthused with me about the potential.

 

When I received  the car back those around me who do know a thing or two about engineering and performance cars were most impressed with not just the performance, but the quality of the work. The new engine ran brilliantly and never once did it have a problem from day one and has still ran faultlessly through many road miles and as many track days as I have been able to fit in.

 

Me being me I decided that when I got used to the new power of the vehicle I wanted more! The obvious choice was to talk to Gareth again. This time we decided to Supercharge the car! Again my little car was sent away and some time later it came back ridiculously fast! It has been fitted with a Rotrex supercharger and an Elise Racing chargecooler system. It now has over 300 bhp and Gareth tells me has the potential for more when I want it. The car is road legal but to be honest it's way over specced for that now and is the perfect track day toy that's quicker than almost all I come across and at the same time, reliable to drive to and from events (provided I don't have any "incidents!!!")

 

Gareth is a great bloke, the engineering is first class. He's not the quickest to do a job, but in my view he's the best."
