The 2ZZ engine responds particularly well to forced induction applications whether supercharged or turbocharged.  We have found that the more compact Rotrex unit with our advanced cooling and control strategy makes this unit outperform other installations for track use. With advanced cooling methods gone are the days of heat soak after three laps!  Turbo installations are extremely rewarding but quite expensive due to extremely sophisticated installation requirements.

 

After many years of development Elise racing can now offer a well thought out engine specification from production class racers all the way through to powerful turbo engines. With the use of our own H Pro ecu along with Elise Racing large diameter liner systems, Elise Racing camshaft and rocker systems, large diameter cylinder head studs, cnc machined reduced port diameter we can offer an excellent service to give a reliable, drivable race winning engine package.

Elise Racing has developed a good understanding of the 2ZZ engine used in the Elise 111R models and can offer a wide range of works from simple track day enthusiast reliability upgrades all the way through to full race turbo dry sump engines. For Elise tuning, Exige tuning, 211 tuning and 2ZZ tuning, Elise Racing can offer a solution for any of your requirements. We also offer many race gearbox installations for the 2ZZ. Lotus tuning is our speciality.

It is essential for all 2ZZ powered Lotus to undergo some relatively simple works. If the engine is in good condition then fitment of a steel EN24 oil gear and a trap door sump are essential if the engine is to provide reliable service. This job can be carried out in one working day or alternatively we can supply the parts and instructions for DIY installation. Whilst this work takes place the customer also has the option of fitting other items such as high compression pistons.

The 2ZZ engine responds well to increased compression ratio and to camshaft upgrades. When used in conjunction with the H Pro ecu power and drivability can be significantly improved. Camshaft upgrades along with our new improved rocker can see dramatic improvements in midrange torque allowing the driver to use 3000>6000 rpm rather than having to always keep the engine above the 6000 rpm VVL cam switchover point. Dropping the VVL to 5800 is a false economy on standard cams, the car might feel quicker due to the earlier noise coming from the induction but in fact the car is slower.
